RK University is established under Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009 (Act No. 8 0f 2009) by the Government of Gujarat.

The Gujarat Government has passed the bill recognising RK University in the Legislative Assembly. Nirma University, DAIICT, Charutar University of Science and Technology, Ahmedabad University etc. are some other universities formed under similar act of the Government of Gujarat.
