A two day national conference organized by School of Pharmacy, RK University [RKU] on March 13-14, 2011 ended on a high in presence of some notable academicians, industrialists, delegates and 250+ pharmacy students across India.
The two day event witnessed some key professionals from industry and academics like Dr. Sailendra Goswami, VP-CRO, Cadila Pharma, Dr. Vikram Desai, Group Head, DECU-ISRO, Dr.H.K.Singh, CDRI, Dr. D.D. Santani, Professor & Director, PG Education & Research, ROFEL College, Vapi, Mr.Khodidas Patel, Chairman, RK Group of Colleges, Mr. Ranchod Mangrolia, Vice-Chairman, RK Group of Colleges, Mr. Denish Patel, Academic – Director, RKU, Mr. Mohit Patel, Director – Strategic Initiatives, RKU, Mr. Shivlal Ramani, Director – Administration, RKU, Dr. RamaMohana Rao, Principal, School of Engineering, RKU, Dr. C.D.Sankhvara, Dean, School of Engineering, RKU, Dr. Priyanshu Rathod, Principal, School of Physiotherapy,RKU, Dr. T.R.Desai, Principal, School of Pharmacy, RKU and Prof. Narsiyan, Principal, School of Diploma Studies, RKU.
The second day of the event witnessed poster and paper presentation in the Pharma Research Field. From the various entries received across India, best 10 abstracts shortlisted by scientific committee. Whereas, for poster presentation more than 50+ entries were registered on pharma research areas. Notwithstanding, Ms. Vaishali Koyani, 6th Semester B.Pharm of School of Pharmacy, RKU won the 2nd position at the poster competition.
The conference ended by Prof. Dipen Bhimani delivering the Vote of Thanks. |

| National Conference on Challenges & Opportunities in Pharma Research |

With rapidly changing global scenario, India has transformed from an agricultural society to industrial society and then to today's knowledge and information driven society. Recent surveys have shown that though, every year, thousands of pharmacy post graduates are passing out of Indian educational institutes, only a few of them posses employable technological skills and knowledge of current corporate scenario. Further, acute need has been felt to shift the research focus of academia towards collaborative research between industry and academic institutes. At the other end, with advent of self nance era, there has been sudden surge in number of colleges and PG centers, consequently creating paucity of capable and senior faculties at PG level. Among PG students and faculties, there is dearth of information on corporate scenario and knowledge regarding productive research. This vital issue of strengthening PG education can be addressed only by interaction between industry experts and PG students as well as faculties during conferences. Hence, in this national conference, RK College of Pharmacy has invited eminent speakers who will focus mainly, on knowledge of current corporate scenario and avenues of value-added research.
